Our complex environments shape us just at much as we shape them. I want to explore the impact we make onto the earth and explore our relationship to our environments, both natural and social. I am interested in exploring the concept of Geo-graphy in order to create pieces in metal that reflect our complex shaping of the world. Just as we imprint onto the earth for anthropocentric purposes, we imprint on metal for artistic and industrial practices.

My work draws on 10 years of experience in a career of environmental advocacy. I gained important insight into environmental processes, transformation, and degradation. The reality is that these systems we were navigating are infinitely complex and people faced with immediate needs: job security, peace, social acceptance.

This experience gives me a deeper understanding of - and connection to - the scientific and political challenges of environmental work that I carry into my work with metals. I am interested in exploring the more elemental, emotional, and metaphorical aspects of environmental representation in my work with metals.

Our environment is no longer exclusively natural and includes our built surroundings and institutions that humans depend on.
